**Darren John Lavett** (October 31, 1964 – October 11, 2012) was an American [music video](/source/Music_video) director, who directed videos for [The Offspring](/source/The_Offspring), [Bad Religion](/source/Bad_Religion), [Bush](/source/Bush_(British_band)), [Voodoo Glow Skulls](/source/Voodoo_Glow_Skulls), [Claw Hammer](/source/Claw_Hammer), [Testament](/source/Testament_(band)) and several other bands. He is probably best known for directing the videos of [The Offspring](/source/The_Offspring)'s biggest hits "[Come Out and Play](/source/Come_Out_and_Play_(The_Offspring_song))" and "[Self Esteem](/source/Self_Esteem_(song))". He also directed Eminem's first music video, "[Just Don't Give a Fuck](/source/Just_Don't_Give_a_Fuck)".

Lavett attended [El Camino Real High School](/source/El_Camino_Real_High_School) in [Woodland Hills](/source/Woodland_Hills%2C_Los_Angeles), [California](/source/California), and graduated from [San Diego State University](/source/San_Diego_State_University).

Lavett produced the feature film L.A. cult classic *[Southlander](/source/Southlander)*.

Lavett was the great-grandson of famed composer of *"April Showers"*, *"California, Here I Come"* and co-founder of [Capitol Records](/source/Capitol_Records), [Buddy DeSylva](/source/Buddy_DeSylva).

Lavett died of [sleep apnea](/source/Sleep_apnea) on the evening of October 11, 2012.
