# Darren Fenn

**Darren Fenn** (born February 17, 1980), is an American former professional [basketball](/source/Basketball) player and current owner of the [Buffalo eXtreme](/source/Buffalo_eXtreme). Fenn also owns and operates the XGen Elite basketball academy in [West Seneca](/source/West_Seneca,_New_York).

He is currently head coach of the girls basketball team at [Perry High School](/source/Perry_High_School_(Gilbert,_Arizona)) in [Gilbert, Arizona](/source/Gilbert,_Arizona).

## Early life

Fenn was born in Tonawanda, New York. He played basketball at [Canisius High School](/source/Canisius_High_School), where he was named Western New York Player of the Year in 1997.[1] He later played college basketball for [Canisius College](/source/Canisius_Golden_Griffins_men's_basketball), where he was team captain for their 2001–01 season and led his squad to the [2001 MAAC men's basketball tournament](/source/2001_MAAC_men's_basketball_tournament) championship game.[2]

## Playing career

After turning professional, Fenn played internationally with [Limoges CSP](/source/Limoges_CSP) (2001–2002), [PBC Ural Great Perm](/source/PBC_Ural_Great_Perm) (2004), [KK Bosna](/source/KK_Bosna) (2004–2005), [KB Trepça](/source/KB_Trep%C3%A7a) (2005), [Eisbären Bremerhaven](/source/Eisb%C3%A4ren_Bremerhaven) (2005–2006), [Bamberg Baskets](/source/Bamberg_Baskets) (2006–2008), [Artland Dragons](/source/Artland_Dragons) (2008–2012), [Hitachi SunRockers](/source/Hitachi_SunRockers) (2012–2013), [JDA Dijon Basket](/source/JDA_Dijon_Basket) (2013), [BC SCM Timișoara](/source/BC_SCM_Timi%C8%99oara) (2014) and [s.Oliver Baskets](/source/S.Oliver_Baskets) (2014).[3][4]

He won the 2004 [Russian Basketball Cup](/source/Russian_Basketball_Cup) with [PBC Ural Great Perm](/source/PBC_Ural_Great_Perm), and the 2005 [Basketball Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina](/source/Basketball_Cup_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina) with [KK Bosna](/source/KK_Bosna).[5] Fenn was honored as [All-BBL](/source/All-Basketball_Bundesliga_Team) following the 2006–07 season where he won the [German Championship](/source/List_of_German_basketball_champions) with the [Bamberg Baskets](/source/Bamberg_Baskets), and was named MVP of the 2009 [BBL All-Star Game](/source/BBL_All-Star_Game).[6]

## Coaching career

Fenn founded WNY Premier Basketball Training in 2015.[7] He was head coach of [Nichols School](/source/Nichols_School) for their 2016–17 season, but left to run basketball operations at [St. Mary's High School](/source/St._Mary's_High_School_(Lancaster,_New_York)) after they offered space for his business.[8] Fenn renamed his business to XGen Elite, and the company relocated to XGen Elite Sports Complex in [West Seneca](/source/West_Seneca,_New_York).[9] [Jordan Nwora](/source/Jordan_Nwora) of the [National Basketball Association](/source/National_Basketball_Association) was trained by Fenn at the facility.[10]

He founded the [Buffalo eXtreme](/source/Buffalo_eXtreme) of the [American Basketball Association](/source/American_Basketball_Association_(2000%E2%80%93present)) in 2023, which plays within his XGen Elite Sports Complex.[11]

Fenn was hired as the girls basketball head coach at [Perry High School](/source/Perry_High_School_(Gilbert,_Arizona)) in 2025.[12]

## Personal life

He is married to Kimberly Cross and they have two children.[13] Fenn's oldest daughter Sydney currently plays for the [Indiana Hoosiers](/source/Indiana_Hoosiers_women's_basketball), and his youngest daughter Alexis has a pending offer to play for the [Le Moyne Dolphins](/source/Le_Moyne_Dolphins_women's_basketball).[14][15]

Fenn was inducted into the [Canisius High School](/source/Canisius_High_School) Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 and the [Canisius College](/source/Canisius_Golden_Griffins_men's_basketball) Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.[1][2]
