# Darrell Bunt

**Frederick Darrell Bunt** (3 July 1902 – 31 October 1977) was [Chaplain of the Fleet](/source/Chaplain_of_the_Fleet)[1] and [Archdeacon of the Royal Navy](/source/Archdeacon_of_the_Royal_Navy) from 1956 to 1960.

Educated at the [City of London School](/source/City_of_London_School) and [St Chad's College, Durham](/source/St_Chad's_College,_Durham),[2] Bunt was [ordained](/source/Ordained) in 1927.[3] After [curacies](/source/Curate) St Luke's, [Victoria Docks](/source/Royal_Victoria_Dock) and St Augustine's, [Wembley Park](/source/Wembley_Park) he became a [Chaplain](/source/Chaplain) in the [Royal Navy](/source/Royal_Navy). Amongst others he served [HMS *President*](/source/HMS_President_(shore_establishment)) (as Chaplain to Leonard Coulshaw, the Chaplain of the Fleet), [HMS *Excellent*](/source/HMS_Excellent_(shore_establishment)), [*HMS Suffolk*](/source/HMS_Suffolk_(55)), the [RN College at Dartmouth](/source/Britannia_Royal_Naval_College) and [HM Dockyard, Portsmouth](/source/HMNB_Portsmouth) before becoming head of the service. An [Honorary Chaplain to the Queen](/source/Honorary_Chaplain_to_the_Queen), he died on 31 October 1977.
