==Early life==
Danny Stiles was born and grew up in [Newark](/source/Newark%2C_New_Jersey) and [Linden, New Jersey](/source/Linden%2C_New_Jersey), during [The Great Depression](/source/The_Great_Depression). After graduating from high school in 1941, he enlisted in the [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) after the [bombing of Pearl Harbor](/source/bombing_of_Pearl_Harbor). After being [honorably discharged](/source/honorably_discharged) due to an injured hip, Stiles went to college and held several jobs before starting his radio career.[
