'''Danny Blum''' (born 7 January 1991) is a German professional [footballer](/source/association_football) who plays as a [winger](/source/winger_(association_football)) for sixth-tier [Verbandsliga Südwest](/source/Verbandsliga_S%C3%BCdwest) club [TSG Pfeddersheim](/source/TSG_Pfeddersheim). He plays mainly as a [winger](/source/Winger_(association_football)) but also can play as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)).

He began his professional career with [SV Sandhausen](/source/SV_Sandhausen) of the [3. Liga](/source/3._Liga), winning the title in 2012 and again on loan to [Karlsruher SC](/source/Karlsruher_SC) a year later. After one [2. Bundesliga](/source/2._Bundesliga) season with Sandhausen, he joined [1. FC Nürnberg](/source/1._FC_N%C3%BCrnberg) in 2014 on a free transfer, and almost immediately suffered a six-month knee injury. After losing the play-off for promotion to the [Bundesliga](/source/Bundesliga) against [Eintracht Frankfurt](/source/Eintracht_Frankfurt) in 2016, he joined that team, where he was a [DFB-Pokal](/source/DFB-Pokal) runner-up in 2017 and winner a year later.

==Career==
===SV Sandhausen===
Born in [Frankenthal](/source/Frankenthal), [Rhineland-Palatinate](/source/Rhineland-Palatinate), Blum was on the books of [FC Schalke 04](/source/FC_Schalke_04) as a youth and was given his first professional contract at [SV Waldhof Mannheim](/source/SV_Waldhof_Mannheim) before joining [SV Sandhausen](/source/SV_Sandhausen) months later.<ref name=nord/>

He made his professional debut for Sandhausen on 23 March 2010 in the [3. Liga](/source/3._Liga), as a 59th-minute substitute for [Daniel Jungwirth](/source/Daniel_Jungwirth) in a 3–0 loss away to [VfB Stuttgart II](/source/VfB_Stuttgart_II), totalling eight games (three starts) in his first season.<ref name=blum>{{cite web |title=D. Blum |url=https://int.soccerway.com/players/danny-blum/114430/ |publisher=Soccerway |accessdate=20 August 2018}}</ref> The following season he was a regular, playing 30 of 38 games, starting all but four.<ref name=blum/>

In 2011–12, Blum's time was split between the field and the bench as Sandhausen were promoted as champions. He scored three goals for them, the first on 19 November in a 2–0 home win over [SC Preußen Münster](/source/SC_Preu%C3%9Fen_M%C3%BCnster), eight minutes after coming on for [Roberto Pinto](/source/Roberto_Pinto).<ref name=blum/>

On 5 June 2012, Blum was loaned back into the third tier, joining relegated [Karlsruher SC](/source/Karlsruher_SC) for the season.<ref>{{cite news |title=Linksfuß Danny Blum für eine Saison an Karlsruher SC ausgeliehen|trans-title=Left-footer Danny Blum has been loaned for a season to Karlsruher SC |url=http://www.sport-kuriermannheim.de/sportnews/archiv/item/1124-linksfuss-danny-blum-fuer-eine-saison-an-karlsruher-sc-ausgeliehen.html |accessdate=20 August 2018 |work=Sport-Kurier Mannheim |date=5 June 2012 |language=German}}</ref> He was again a league champion despite playing rarely,<ref name=nord/> and scored his one goal on 15 December in a 3–1 home win against VfB Stuttgart II as a late substitute.<ref name=blum/>

In 2013–14, Blum competed with Sandhausen in the [2. Bundesliga](/source/2._Bundesliga), with the team having stayed up due to [MSV Duisburg](/source/MSV_Duisburg)'s administrative relegation.<ref name=nord/> He played 19 games in the second tier and scored four goals, the first to open a 2–0 home win over [FSV Frankfurt](/source/FSV_Frankfurt) on 3 November.<ref name=blum/>

===1. FC Nürnberg===
On 23 May 2014, Blum joined fellow 2. Bundesliga team [1. FC Nürnberg](/source/1._FC_N%C3%BCrnberg) on a free transfer.<ref>{{cite news |title=Blum in, Nilsson out |url=https://www.fcn.de/en/news/artikel/blum-in-nilsson-out/ |accessdate=20 August 2018 |publisher=1. FC Nürnberg|date=23 May 2014}}</ref> In pre-season, he suffered knee cartilage damage that ruled him out for six months, and was given a 50% chance by his doctor of playing professionally again.<ref name=nord/>

He finally made his FCN debut on 15 February 2016, replacing [Peniel Mlapa](/source/Peniel_Mlapa) for the final 12 minutes of a 2–0 win over [1. FC Union Berlin](/source/1._FC_Union_Berlin) at home. A week later, again from the bench, he scored his first goal to give the lead in a 3–1 win at [Fortuna Düsseldorf](/source/Fortuna_D%C3%BCsseldorf), eventually totalling three in 12 games (four starts).<ref name=blum/>

In 2015–16, Nürnberg came third and played a play-off against [Eintracht Frankfurt](/source/Eintracht_Frankfurt) for promotion to the [Bundesliga](/source/Bundesliga), with Blum a late substitute in both legs of the 2–1 aggregate defeat.<ref name=blum/>

He made his debut on 21 August in the first round of the [DFB-Pokal](/source/DFB-Pokal) away to [1.
