**Daniel Sans** (born 1975) is a German [tenor](/source/Tenor).

## Career

Daniel Sans was a [boy soprano](/source/Boy_soprano) in the choir of the [Mainz Cathedral](/source/Mainz_Cathedral). He studied at the [Musikhochschule Frankfurt](/source/Hochschule_f%C3%BCr_Musik_und_Darstellende_Kunst_Frankfurt_am_Main). He specialized in oratorio and [lied](/source/Lied).[1]

Sans has performed in the [Wiener Konzerthaus](/source/Wiener_Konzerthaus) with [Michael Schneider](/source/Michael_Schneider_(conductor)), the [Teatro Colon](/source/Teatro_Colon) with [Karl-Friedrich Beringer](/source/Karl-Friedrich_Beringer), at the Feldkirch Festival with [Thomas Hengelbrock](/source/Thomas_Hengelbrock), the [Kölner Philharmonie](/source/K%C3%B6lner_Philharmonie) with [Peter Neumann](/source/Peter_Neumann_(conductor)), the [Berliner Philharmonie](/source/Berliner_Philharmonie) with [Hans-Christoph Rademann](/source/Hans-Christoph_Rademann), the Dresdner [Kreuzkirche](/source/Kreuzkirche,_Dresden) with [Roderich Kreile](/source/Roderich_Kreile), the Leipziger [Thomaskirche](/source/Thomaskirche) with [Gotthold Schwarz](/source/Gotthold_Schwarz), and the [Alte Oper](/source/Alte_Oper) in Frankfurt with [Ralf Otto](/source/Ralf_Otto). In 2009 he performed Mendelssohn's *[Paulus](/source/St._Paul_(oratorio))* with the Landesjugendorchester (State Youth Orchestra) of [NRW](/source/North_Rhine-Westphalia).[2]

Sans has collaborated with the [Bachchor Mainz](/source/Bachchor_Mainz), conducted by [Ralf Otto](/source/Ralf_Otto). He has appeared with local choirs of the [Rhein Main area](/source/Rhein_Main_area); for example, in 1999 he appeared with Christof Fischesser in [Puccini](/source/Giacomo_Puccini)'s *Messa di Gloria*, both in [St. Martin, Idstein](/source/St._Martin,_Idstein) and the Basilika of [Schloss Johannisberg](/source/Schloss_Johannisberg).[3] In 2001 he sang there the tenor part in [Britten](/source/Benjamin_Britten)'s *[The Company of Heaven](/source/The_Company_of_Heaven)* for speaker, soloists, choir and orchestra (1937), which the composer had written for [Peter Pears](/source/Peter_Pears).[4] In 2009 he was the tenor soloist (Uriel) in Haydn's *[Die Schöpfung](/source/The_Creation_(Haydn))* with [Elisabeth Scholl](/source/Elisabeth_Scholl) (Gabriel, Eve), [Andreas Pruys](/source/Andreas_Pruys) (Raphael, Adam) and the [Neue Rheingauer Kantorei](/source/Neue_Rheingauer_Kantorei) in the [Rheingauer Dom](/source/Rheingauer_Dom) in [Geisenheim](/source/Geisenheim) and in the Basilika of [Schloss Johannisberg](/source/Schloss_Johannisberg).[5]

Sans recorded with Nicol Matt the [masses](/source/List_of_masses_by_Wolfgang_Amadeus_Mozart) of [Mozart](/source/Mozart) and [Bruckner](/source/Bruckner)'s Mass in D minor. He recorded the [Levin](/source/Robert_D._Levin) completion of Mozart's [Requiem](/source/Requiem_(Mozart)) with the Bachchor Mainz, [L'arpa festante](/source/L'arpa_festante) München, [Julia Kleiter](/source/Julia_Kleiter), [Gerhild Romberger](/source/Gerhild_Romberger), and [Klaus Mertens](/source/Klaus_Mertens), conducted by Ralf Otto, Schubert's [Mass in E-flat major](/source/Mass_No._6_(Schubert)) with Matthias Breitschaft, and Mendelssohn's *[Elias](/source/Elijah_(oratorio))* with Ronen Borshevsky. Again with Matt, he recorded in 2002 the complete choral works of Mendelssohn,[6][7] and in 2006, Mahler's *[Das Lied von der Erde](/source/Das_Lied_von_der_Erde)* and Mozart's *[Der Schauspieldirektor](/source/Der_Schauspieldirektor)*.[1]
