# Daniel Pinillos

**Daniel** "**Dani**" **Pinillos González** (born 22 October 1992) is a Spanish professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [left-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Full-back).[2]

## Club career

### Early career

Born in [Logroño](/source/Logro%C3%B1o), [La Rioja](/source/La_Rioja_(autonomous_community)), Pinillos graduated from local [UD Logroñés](/source/UD_Logro%C3%B1%C3%A9s)' youth system, and joined [Racing de Santander](/source/Racing_de_Santander) in July 2010.[3] He made his senior debuts with the latter's [B-team](/source/Racing_de_Santander_B) in the [2010–11 season](/source/2010%E2%80%9311_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B), being relegated from [Segunda División B](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B).

On 9 July 2013, Pinillos signed for [CD Ourense](/source/CD_Ourense), also in the third level.[4] He appeared regularly for the side, contributing with 21 appearances.

### Córdoba

On 30 January 2014, Pinillos moved to fellow league club [Córdoba CF B](/source/C%C3%B3rdoba_CF_B),[5] and played his first official game with [the main squad](/source/C%C3%B3rdoba_CF) on 2 March, starting in a 1–0 away win against [Girona FC](/source/Girona_FC) in the [Segunda División](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n) championship.[6] On 18 July, after appearing in 16 matches during [the campaign](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), he renewed his link with the [Andalusians](/source/Andalusia) for three years, being definitely promoted to the first team now in [La Liga](/source/La_Liga).[7]

Pinillos made his debut in the main category of Spanish football on 25 August 2014, starting and being [booked](/source/Penalty_card#Yellow_card) in a 0–2 loss at [Real Madrid](/source/Real_Madrid_C.F.).[8] On 22 March of the following year, he was [sent off](/source/Ejection_(sports)) in the dying minutes of a 1–3 away loss against [Real Sociedad](/source/Real_Sociedad) after offending the [assistant referee](/source/Assistant_referee_(association_football)),[9] being later handed a four-match ban.[10] On 11 June, after [suffering relegation](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_La_Liga), Pinillos was released by the *Verdiblancos*.[11]

### Nottingham Forest

In July 2015, Pinillos went on a trial at English [Football League Championship](/source/Football_League_Championship) club [Nottingham Forest](/source/Nottingham_Forest_F.C.),[12] and agreed to a two-year contract with the club on 30 July.[13] He made his Forest debut on 22 August in a 1–1 draw at [Bolton Wanderers](/source/Bolton_Wanderers_F.C.),[14] and quickly established himself as the club's first-choice left-back. On Saturday 19 December, Pinillos ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligaments in Forest's 2–1 win over [MK Dons](/source/Milton_Keynes_Dons_F.C.) and missed the rest of the season through injury.[15]

Pinillos finally made his first-team return for Forest on 19 November 2016, starting at left wing-back as his club defeated [Ipswich Town](/source/Ipswich_Town_F.C.) 2–0 at [Portman Road](/source/Portman_Road).[16] Before Forest played their next match, however, the club disclosed that Pinillos required surgery on his other knee due to a meniscus injury that was expected to sideline him for "several weeks".[17]

On 18 March 2017, Pinillos scored his first goal for the club, netting a [last-minute headed equaliser](/source/Last-minute_goal) against fierce rivals [Derby County](/source/Derby_County_F.C.) from a [Ben Osborn](/source/Ben_Osborn) corner, levelling the match at 2–2. Pinillos had also assisted Forest's first goal that day, with an outstanding cross for the on-rushing [Zach Clough](/source/Zach_Clough) to tap in.[18] On 15 May 2017, Forest manager [Mark Warburton](/source/Mark_Warburton) confirmed that Pinillos would leave the club at the end of his contract on 30 June.[19]

### Córdoba return

On 2 July 2017, Pinillos returned to his previous club Córdoba, after agreeing to a three-year deal.[20] He immediately became a first-team regular for the side, featuring ahead of fellow new signing [Javi Noblejas](/source/Javi_Noblejas).

### Barnsley

On 19 January 2018, Pinillos signed for [Barnsley](/source/Barnsley_F.C.) on a 2 1⁄2-year contract.[21]

### Miedź Legnica

On 29 September 2020, he joined Polish club [Miedź Legnica](/source/Mied%C5%BA_Legnica) on a one-year contract with an extension option.[22] He made 23 [second-tier](/source/I_liga) appearances during his one-year stint at the club.[23]

### UD Logroñés

On 30 August 2021 he signed for newly-relegated [Third Division](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B) side [UD Logroñés](/source/UD_Logro%C3%B1%C3%A9s).[23]
