**Daniel Seland Karlsbakk** (born 7 April 2003) is a Norwegian professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)) for [Eliteserien](/source/Eliteserien) club [Sarpsborg 08](/source/Sarpsborg_08_FF).

## Career

### Bryne and Viking

Karlsbakk began his career in 2009 by joining hometown club [Bryne](/source/Bryne_FK)'s youth academy, which led to him signing his first professional contract with the club in April 2019.[4][5] He made his senior debut on 26 October 2019.[1] He suffered an ankle injury in June 2021 while attempting a backflip, which kept him out of action for much of the following season.[6]

On 7 December 2021, Karlsbakk signed a three-year contract with [Viking](/source/Viking_FK).[7] He made his competitive debut for the club on 21 April 2022 in a [Norwegian Football Cup](/source/Norwegian_Football_Cup) match against [Bodø/Glimt](/source/Bod%C3%B8%2FGlimt) and scored his first goal for the club against [Haugesund](/source/FK_Haugesund) on 25 June 2022.[1]

### SC Heerenveen

On 31 January 2023, following the transfer of forward [Amin Sarr](/source/Amin_Sarr) to [Olympique Lyon](/source/Olympique_Lyonnais), Karlsbakk signed a contract with [Heerenveen](/source/SC_Heerenveen) until 2026.[8][9] He made his debut for the club on 7 February 2023 in the [KNVB Cup](/source/KNVB_Cup) against [NAC Breda](/source/NAC_Breda) and five days later, he made his [Eredivisie](/source/Eredivisie) debut, coming on as a substitute against [Feyenoord](/source/Feyenoord). Later that year, on 20 August, he scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 away win over [FC Utrecht](/source/FC_Utrecht).[10]

### Sarpsborg 08

On 10 January 2025, Karlsbakk returned to Norway to sign for [Sarpsborg 08](/source/Sarpsborg_08_FF).[11] He went on to finish as the [2025 Eliteserien](/source/2025_Eliteserien)'s top scorer with 18 goals in his first season with the club.[12]

## Personal life

He is a son of former footballer [Eivind Karlsbakk](/source/Eivind_Karlsbakk).[7] Karlsbakk has compared himself to fellow [Brynebu](/source/Bryne) [Erling Haaland](/source/Erling_Haaland), claiming that they both possess the same power in their game, which they acquired from their upbringing in Bryne. Additionally, they shared a similar diet including [forcemeat](/source/Forcemeat).[13][14]

As his father Eivind Karlsbakk reached the [1995 Norwegian Football Cup final](/source/1995_Norwegian_Football_Cup_final), but lost, so did Daniel Karlsbakk in 2025.[15]
