Born in [Rotherham](/source/Rotherham), [Yorkshire](/source/Yorkshire) on 12 June 1884, he was [ordained](/source/Holy_Orders) to the [priesthood](/source/Priesthood_(Catholic_Church)) on 22 September 1907. He was appointed the [Bishop](/source/Bishop_(Catholic_Church)) of the [Diocese of Menevia](/source/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Menevia) by the [Holy See](/source/Holy_See) on 15 March 1941. His [consecration](/source/consecration) to the [Episcopate](/source/Episcopal_polity) took place on 1 May 1941, the principal [consecrator](/source/consecrator) was Archbishop [William Godfrey](/source/William_Godfrey) of Liverpool (later Archbishop of Westminster), and the principal co-consecrators were Archbishop [Michael McGrath](/source/Michael_Joseph_McGrath) of Cardiff and Bishop [Thomas Flynn](/source/Thomas_Flynn_(bishop_of_Lancaster)) of Lancaster.<ref name=bhann/>

Bishop Hannon died in office at the Bishop's House in [Wrexham](/source/Wrexham) on 26 April 1946, aged 61, and was buried in [Wrexham Cemetery](/source/Wrexham_Cemetery) in Ruabon Road.<ref name=bhann/>
