He was born and raised in [Rehovot](/source/Rehovot) to [Jewish](/source/Jewish) parents. His mother is of [Iraqi](/source/Iraqi_Jewish)-[Libyan](/source/History_of_the_Jews_in_Libya) descent and his father is of [Romanian](/source/Romanian_Jewish)-[Polish](/source/Polish_Jewish) descent. His father, Simcha Gad, is a former footballer who played for [Maccabi Sha'arayim F.C.](/source/Maccabi_Sha'arayim_F.C.)
