# Dani Couture

**Danielle (Dani) Couture** (born 1978) is a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) poet and novelist.[1]

In 2011, Couture's second book of poetry, *Sweet*, was shortlisted for the [Trillium Book Award in English](/source/Trillium_Book_Award,_English) for Poetry[2] and won the [ReLit Award](/source/ReLit_Awards) for Poetry.[3] In 2011, she also received an Honour of Distinction from the [Writers' Trust of Canada](/source/Writers'_Trust_of_Canada)'s [Dayne Ogilvie Prize](/source/Dayne_Ogilvie_Prize).[1]

She is also the literary editor at *[This Magazine](/source/This_Magazine)*.

## Biography

Couture was born on a military base to a [francophone](/source/Geographical_distribution_of_French_speakers) father and an [anglophone](/source/English-speaking_world) mother, both of whom were enlisted in the [Canadian Armed Forces](/source/Canadian_Armed_Forces). She has lived in ten cities, including [North Bay](/source/North_Bay,_Ontario), [Vancouver](/source/Vancouver), [Windsor](/source/Windsor,_Ontario) and [Taichung](/source/Taichung), [Taiwan](/source/Taiwan). She currently lives in [Toronto](/source/Toronto), [Ontario](/source/Ontario).[4]

Couture's poetry, essays, reviews and interviews have been published in various literary journals and magazines, as well as anthologies, including *[The Walrus](/source/The_Walrus),* *[The Globe and Mail](/source/The_Globe_and_Mail)*, *[Taddle Creek](/source/Taddle_Creek_(magazine))*, *[The Fiddlehead](/source/The_Fiddlehead)*, *Arc* and *Best Canadian Poems in English*.
