# Dan Gale

**Daniel James Gale** (born 15 June 1989) is an English [cricketer](/source/Cricket). Gale is a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batsman_(cricket)) who bowls [slow left-arm orthodox](/source/Slow_left-arm_orthodox). He was born in [Tadworth](/source/Tadworth), [Surrey](/source/Surrey) and educated at [Glyn School](/source/Glyn_School) in [Epsom](/source/Epsom).[1]

While studying for his degree at [Durham University](/source/Durham_University), Gale made his [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) debut for [Durham UCCE](/source/Durham_University_Centre_of_Cricketing_Excellence) against [Derbyshire](/source/Derbyshire_County_Cricket_Club) in 2008.[1] He appeared in six further first-class matches for the university, the last of which against in 2010 against [Durham](/source/Durham_County_Cricket_Club), by which time the university was playing as [Durham MCCU](/source/Durham_MCC_University) following a change of name in 2010.[2] In his five first-class matches, he scored 59 runs at an [average](/source/Batting_average_(cricket)) of 48.33, with a high score of 37. With the ball, he took 9 wickets at a [bowling average](/source/Bowling_average) of 48.33, with best figures of 4/94.[3]

In 2008, he made a single [List A](/source/List_A_cricket) appearance for the [Marylebone Cricket Club](/source/Marylebone_Cricket_Club) against [Bangladesh A](/source/Bangladesh_A_cricket_team).[4] In this match, he scored an [unbeaten](/source/Not_out) single with the bat, while with the ball he bowled 9 wicket-less [overs](/source/Over_(cricket)) for the cost of 58 runs.[5]

Gale graduated from Durham in 2010 with a [Bachelor of Arts](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) degree in Sport.[6]
