**Daniel Curry** is a [visual effects](/source/Visual_effects) [producer and supervisor](/source/Visual_effects_supervisor), as well as a [main title designer](/source/Main_title_designer) in the [film](/source/Film_industry) and [television industry](/source/Television_industry).

Curry attended [Middlebury College](/source/Middlebury_College) in [Vermont](/source/Vermont) and [graduate school](/source/Graduate_school) at [California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt](/source/Humboldt_State_University) in [California](/source/California).[1]

He is best known for his work on *[Star Trek: The Next Generation](/source/Star_Trek%3A_The_Next_Generation)*, *[Star Trek: Deep Space Nine](/source/Star_Trek%3A_Deep_Space_Nine)*, *[Star Trek: Voyager](/source/Star_Trek%3A_Voyager)*, and *[Star Trek: Enterprise](/source/Star_Trek%3A_Enterprise)*.[2] His work on these series earned him fifteen [Emmy Award](/source/Emmy_Award) nominations and seven Emmy awards wins.[3] As Visual Effects supervisor, Curry frequently served as a [second unit](/source/Second_unit) director. He directed an episode himself on only one occasion, the *Star Trek: The Next Generation* episode "[Birthright, Part II](/source/Birthright_(Star_Trek%3A_The_Next_Generation))".[4]

Starting on *TNG*, Curry used his experience as a [martial artist](/source/Martial_artist) to develop a [fighting style](/source/Fighting_style) for the fictional [alien race](/source/Alien_race) known as the [Klingons](/source/Klingon). He designed several Klingon [hand-to-hand combat](/source/Hand-to-hand_combat) [weapons](/source/Weapons), including the [Sword](/source/Sword) of [Kahless](/source/Kahless), the *[mek'leth](/source/Mek'leth)*, and—most notably—the *[bat'leth](/source/Bat'leth)*.[3][2][5]

In addition to designing the [title sequence](/source/Title_sequence) for *Star Trek Voyager*, Curry has designed many memorable title sequences for [feature films](/source/Feature_films), including *[Top Gun](/source/Top_Gun),* *[Big Trouble in Little China](/source/Big_Trouble_in_Little_China)*, and *[Three Amigos](/source/Three_Amigos).* He has also worked as visual effects supervisor on the television series *[Chuck](/source/Chuck_(TV_series))*.

As of 2015, Curry sits on the [board of directors](/source/Board_of_directors) for the Hollywood Science Fiction Museum.[6]
