# Dale Fowler

**Dale Fowler** is an American politician who has served as a [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) member of the [Illinois Senate](/source/Illinois_Senate) since January 2017.[1] Fowler represents the 59th district, which includes all of [Franklin](/source/Franklin_County,_Illinois), [Hamilton](/source/Hamilton_County,_Illinois), [Williamson](/source/Williamson_County,_Illinois), [Saline](/source/Saline_County,_Illinois), [Gallatin](/source/Gallatin_County,_Illinois), [Hardin](/source/Hardin_County,_Illinois), [Pope](/source/Pope_County,_Illinois), [Massac](/source/Massac_County,_Illinois), [Johnson](/source/Johnson_County,_Illinois), [Pulaski](/source/Pulaski_County,_Illinois), and [Alexander](/source/Alexander_County,_Illinois) counties and portions of [Union](/source/Union_County,_Illinois) and [Jackson](/source/Jackson_County,_Illinois) counties in [Southern Illinois](/source/Southern_Illinois).[2] Prior to his election to the Illinois Senate he was [mayor](/source/Mayor) of [Harrisburg](/source/Harrisburg,_Illinois) and a member of the Saline County Board. Fowler defeated incumbent Gary Forby (D), who had represented the district for 14 years. He has 2 children with his wife Jill Fowler. Fowler is a Presbyterian.

In 2018, Democrat [J. B. Pritzker](/source/J._B._Pritzker) appointed Fowler a member of the gubernatorial transition's Job Creation and Economic Opportunity Committee.[3]

Fowler currently serves on the following committees: Energy and Public Utilities; Higher Education (Co-Chair); Licensed Activities; Local Government; Transportation.[4]
