***Dah Shinin'*** is the debut studio album by American [East Coast hip hop](/source/East_Coast_hip_hop) duo [Smif-N-Wessun](/source/Smif-N-Wessun). It was released on January 10, 1995, via Wreck/[Nervous Records](/source/Nervous_Records_(US)). Recording sessions took place at [D&D Studios](/source/D%26D_Studios) in New York City. [Production](/source/Hip_hop_production) was handled by [Da Beatminerz](/source/Da_Beatminerz). It features a [guest appearance](/source/Guest_appearance) from the [Boot Camp Clik](/source/Boot_Camp_Clik). The album peaked at number 59 on the [*Billboard* 200](/source/Billboard_200). The production is the signature Beatminerz sound which is elevated from their work on [Black Moon](/source/Black_Moon_(group))'s 1993 effort *[Enta da Stage](/source/Enta_da_Stage)*. The album spawned four singles: "Bucktown"/Let's Git It On", "Wrekonize/Sound Bwoy Burriel", "Wrekonize (Remix)/Sound Bwoy Burriel (edit)" and "Wontime". A track known as 'Nothin' Move but The Money' was left of the release of the album due to sample clearance issues and was released on white label as a result.

## Background

Members [Tek](/source/Tek_(rapper)) and [Steele](/source/Steele_(rapper)) made their debut previously on [Black Moon](/source/Black_Moon_(group))'s classic 1993 album *[Enta da Stage](/source/Enta_da_Stage)*. *Dah Shinin'* was noted for its hardcore lyrical content and production, which was provided by Da Beatminerz members [DJ Evil Dee](/source/DJ_Evil_Dee), [Mr. Walt](/source/Mr._Walt), [Rich Blak](/source/Rich_Blak) and [Baby Paul](/source/Baby_Paul).[3]

The album marked the arrival of hip hop [supergroup](/source/Supergroup_(music)), the [Boot Camp Clik](/source/Boot_Camp_Clik), a prominent rap crew of the 1990s. The group includes Black Moon member [Buckshot](/source/Buckshot_(rapper)), [Heltah Skeltah](/source/Heltah_Skeltah) and [Originoo Gunn Clappaz](/source/O.G.C._(band)), as well as Tek and Steele. All members make an appearance on the [posse cut](/source/Posse_cut) "Cession at da Doghillee".[4]

The album has gone on to sell over 300,000 copies in the United States, and includes the underground single "Bucktown".[5] In 1998, the album was selected as one of *[The Source](/source/The_Source_(magazine))'*s 100 Best Rap Albums.

The album's cover draws its inspiration from [Roy Ayers](/source/Roy_Ayers) Ubiquity's 1972 album *He's Coming*.
