# Dae Kwang

**Dae Kwang** is a [Soen Sa Nim](/source/Soen_Sa_Nim) and is the current guiding teacher of the [Providence Zen Center](/source/Providence_Zen_Center). He was ordained as a monk in 1987 and received [Dharma transmission](/source/Dharma_transmission) from [Seung Sahn](/source/Seung_Sahn) in 1996. He also serves as head abbot of the entire lineage, ranking just below [Soeng Hyang](/source/Soeng_Hyang) (who is guiding teacher).[1][2]
