Hamilton finished his career as Penn State's all-time [receptions](/source/football_catch) leader with 214, making him the only player in school history with 200+ catches. Hamilton was born in [Okinawa, Japan](/source/Okinawa%2C_Japan) to his parents Johnie and Madgeline Hamilton, both [U.S. Marines](/source/U.S._Marines). The family eventually moved back to the United States and settled in [Quantico, Virginia](/source/Quantico%2C_Virginia), when Hamilton was in fourth grade.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Scott |first=Andrea |date=April 26, 2018 |title=From military brat to the NFL?
