'''DISLIN''' is a high-level [plotting](/source/Chart) [library](/source/Library_(computer_science)) developed by Helmut Michels at the [Max Planck Institute](/source/Max_Planck_Institute) for Solar System Research in [Göttingen](/source/G%C3%B6ttingen), [Germany](/source/Germany). Helmut Michels has worked as a mathematician and [Unix](/source/Unix) system manager at the computer center of the institute. He retired in April 2020 and
founded the company [https://www.dislin-software.de/en Dislin Software].

The DISLIN library contains routines and functions for displaying data as curves, bar graphs, [pie chart](/source/pie_chart)s, 3D-colour plots, surfaces, contours and maps. Several output [formats](/source/Graphics_file_format) are supported such as [X11](/source/X11), [VGA](/source/Video_Graphics_Array), [PostScript](/source/PostScript), [PDF](/source/PDF), [CGM](/source/Computer_Graphics_Metafile), [WMF](/source/Windows_Metafile), [EMF](/source/Windows_Enhanced_Metafile), [SVG](/source/Scalable_Vector_Graphics), [HPGL](/source/HPGL), [PNG](/source/Portable_Network_Graphics), [BMP](/source/Windows_Bitmap), [PPM](/source/Portable_Pixmap), [GIF](/source/GIF) and [TIFF](/source/Tagged_Image_File_Format).

DISLIN is available for the [programming languages](/source/programming_languages) [Fortran](/source/Fortran) 77, Fortran 90/95 and [C](/source/C_(programming_language)). Plotting extensions for the languages [Perl](/source/Perl), [Python](/source/Python_(programming_language)), [Java](/source/Java_(programming_language)), [Julia](/source/Julia_(programming_language)), [Ruby](/source/Ruby_(programming_language)), [Go](/source/Go_(programming_language)) and [Tcl](/source/Tcl_(programming_language)) are also supported for most operating systems. There is a third-party package to use DISLIN from [IDL](/source/IDL_(programming_language)).<ref>{{cite web|author = Philippe-A.
