'''D-Motor''' is a [Belgian](/source/Belgium) [aircraft engine manufacturer](/source/aircraft_engine_manufacturer) based in [Deerlijk](/source/Deerlijk). The company specializes in the design and manufacture of [aircraft engine](/source/aircraft_engine)s for [homebuilt](/source/Homebuilt_aircraft) and [ultralight aircraft](/source/ultralight_aircraft).<ref name="WDLA11">Bayerl, Robby; Martin Berkemeier; et al: ''World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2011-12'', pages 238-239. WDLA UK, Lancaster UK, 2011. {{ISSN|1368-485X}}</ref><ref name="WDLA15">Tacke, Willi; Marino Boric; et al: ''World Directory of Light Aviation 2015-16'', page 256-257. Flying Pages Europe SARL, 2015. {{ISSN|1368-485X}}</ref>

The company was formed in about 2009 to develop an engine to replace the [Rotax 582](/source/Rotax_582) and [Jabiru 2200](/source/Jabiru_2200) in the Belgian [Masquito M80](/source/Masquito_M80) helicopter project. The resulting engine was first shown in 2010 in Brussels, Belgium and at the 2010 [AERO Friedrichshafen](/source/AERO_Friedrichshafen) show in Germany. The company raised funds from their Chinese distributor, who became an investor in the company.<ref name="Exp">{{cite web|url = http://experimenter.epubxp.com/i/434207-dec-2014|title = Introducing the D-motor|accessdate = 1 May 2016|last = Boric|first = Marino|work=The Experimenter pages 38-42|publisher=[Experimental Aircraft Association](/source/Experimental_Aircraft_Association)| date = December 2014}}</ref>

The company developed the four-cylinder {{convert|92|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [D-Motor LF26](/source/D-Motor_LF26) in 2010 and then the derivative six-cylinder {{convert|125|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [D-Motor LF39](/source/D-Motor_LF39).<ref name="WDLA11"/><ref name="WDLA15"/> Both of these Belgian [horizontally-opposed](/source/horizontally-opposed) engines are [liquid-cooled](/source/Radiator_(engine_cooling)), [fuel-injected](/source/fuel_injection), and ultra-compact, having [side-valves](/source/flathead_engine) and extremely [oversquare](/source/Stroke_ratio) cylinder dimensions.

The engines have found applications in [gyroplane](/source/gyroplane)s like the [Niki Lightning](/source/Niki_Lightning) as well as fixed wing aircraft, such as the [BOT SC07 Speed Cruiser](/source/BOT_SC07_Speed_Cruiser) and the [Peak Aerospace Me 109R](/source/Peak_Aerospace_Me_109R).<ref name="WDLA11"/><ref name="WDLA15"/>
