# Cyril Chapuis

**Cyril Chapuis** (born 21 March 1979) is a French former professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [striker](/source/Striker_(association_football)).

## Club career

Chapuis started his professional career at [Niort](/source/Chamois_Niort_FC) in [Ligue 2](/source/Ligue_2) and then moved to [Ligue 1](/source/Ligue_1) for [Rennes](/source/Stade_Rennais_FC).

In January 2002, he signed a five-year contract with [Olympique de Marseille](/source/Olympique_de_Marseille),[1] playing one and a half season with Marseille before being loaned on three occasions to [Leeds United](/source/Leeds_United_F.C.) (playing just once in the league, against Bolton in November 2003[2]), [Strasbourg](/source/RC_Strasbourg) and [Ajaccio](/source/AC_Ajaccio). He was released in summer 2005.

After being without a club for one year, he joined [Grenoble](/source/Grenoble_Foot_38) in [Ligue 2](/source/Ligue_2).

In November 2012, after three years without playing a single game, Chapuis joined [National](/source/Championnat_National) team [Bourg-Péronnas](/source/FC_Bourg-P%C3%A9ronnas).[3]

## International career

He was called up to the [French Under 21s](/source/France_national_under-21_football_team) and was part of the squad of *Les Bleuets* that lost to [Czech U-21](/source/Czech_Republic_national_under-21_football_team) in the final of the [2002 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship](/source/2002_UEFA_European_Under-21_Football_Championship).
