'''Cyclone Static''' is an American punk rock band from New Jersey.

== History ==
Cyclone Static is a melodic punk rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey. Vocalist and guitarist James Salerno played in a band with drummer Jonathan LeVine in 1990s called Drywater. In an interview with ''[The Jersey Journal](/source/The_Jersey_Journal)'', LeVine recalls "we never got picked up by a label [and] we never really did much. It really sounded a lot like Cyclone Static except today we're a lot more mature."<ref>{{Cite web |last=Testa |first=Jim |date=2019-01-30 |title=NJ's Cyclone Static celebrates '90s punk on new album |url=https://www.nj.com/hudson/2019/01/post_1017.html |access-date=2022-12-17 |website=NJ.com}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |date=2021-08-19 |title=Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market bewitches for October festival |url=https://www.trentonian.com/news/trenton-punk-rock-flea-market-bewitches-for-october-festival/article_c6b279a9-b79c-5a39-b8d3-8bd2d2f05187.html |access-date=2022-12-17 |website=The Trentonian}}</ref> The group disbanded, but rejoined in 2016, along with bassist John Mathais.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Shrum |first=Tony |date=2018-11-16 |title=Song Premiere: Cyclone Static – "From Scratch" |url=https://newnoisemagazine.com/stream-cyclone-static-starting-scratch/ |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190212011818/https://newnoisemagazine.com/stream-cyclone-static-starting-scratch/ |archive-date=2019-02-12 |access-date=2022-12-17 |website=New Noise}}</ref>

Cyclone Static draws comparison to the music of Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, and [Guided by Voices](/source/Guided_by_Voices), and cite inspiration from 70's punk, 80's hardcore and 90's alternative.<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |date=2019-02-06 |title=Cyclone Static |url=https://www.piratepirate.com/wp/35490/cyclone-static/ |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190212011530/https://www.piratepirate.com/wp/35490/cyclone-static/ |archive-date=2019-02-12 |access-date=2022-12-17 |website=Pirate!}}</ref> [Post-hardcore](/source/Post-hardcore) band Thursday's lead vocalist [Geoff Rickly](/source/Geoff_Rickly), describes them as "an anomaly in modern music[;] not just to a time of punk rock on the radio but a whole lost New Jersey paradise: Asbury Park before the renaissance, radios cranking out surf guitars and sandy, beach-blown harmonies, through empty lots full of downed power lines and bombed-out buildings."<ref name=":0" />
