# Curative care

**Curative care** or **curative medicine** is the [health care](/source/Health_care) given for [medical conditions](/source/Medical_condition) where a [cure](/source/Cure) is considered achievable, or even possibly so, and directed to this end.[1] Curative care differs from [preventive care](/source/Preventive_care), which aims at preventing the appearance of diseases through [pharmaceuticals](/source/Pharmaceutical) and such techniques as [immunization](/source/Immunization), [exercise](/source/Exercise), proper eating habits and other [life style](/source/Life_style_(sociology)) issues, and from [palliative care](/source/Palliative_care), which concentrates on reducing the severity of [symptoms](/source/Symptom), such as [pain](/source/Pain).[2]
