**Crystal Liu** is an American [television writer](/source/Television_writer).

She is well known for her work on [FX](/source/FX_(TV_channel))'s *[American Horror Story](/source/American_Horror_Story)*.

## Career

Liu got her start as a production assistant on the [75th Academy Awards](/source/75th_Academy_Awards). She went on to serve as an assistant to executive producers on [NBC](/source/NBC)'s *[Lipstick Jungle](/source/Lipstick_Jungle_(TV_series))*, for the entirety of its two-season run. She served as an associate producer for one episode of *[Maneater](/source/Maneater_(2009_miniseries))*. She first worked with [Brad Falchuk](/source/Brad_Falchuk) and [Ryan Murphy](/source/Ryan_Murphy_(producer)) on their [Fox](/source/Fox_Broadcasting_Company) musical comedy *[Glee](/source/Glee_(TV_series))*, as script coordinator. A position she served in during the shows [third year](/source/Glee_(season_3)). In 2011, the writing duo recruited Liu to their new FX series *[American Horror Story](/source/American_Horror_Story)*. She worked as script coordinator from [the pilot](/source/Pilot_(American_Horror_Story)) to [the end](/source/The_Seven_Wonders_(American_Horror_Story)) of the [third season](/source/American_Horror_Story:_Coven); she was then promoted to staff writer for [the fourth season](/source/American_Horror_Story:_Freak_Show); before receiving another promotion to story editor during *[American Horror Story: Hotel](/source/American_Horror_Story:_Hotel)*.[1] She has contributed four scripts for the series.
