***Cryptomaster leviathan*** is an [opilionid](/source/Opiliones) [arachnid](/source/Arachnid) known from southeastern [Oregon](/source/Oregon).[1] It is named after the [Leviathan](/source/Leviathan) of the [Book of Job](/source/Book_of_Job) in the [Hebrew Bible](/source/Hebrew_Bible) due to its large body size compared to most [travunioid](/source/Travunioidea) [Laniatores](/source/Laniatores).

Like its relative *[C. behemoth](/source/Cryptomaster_behemoth)*, it is found in mature coniferous or mixed coniferous and hardwood forests.[2] However, it has also been found in disturbed forests and forests with few conifers. It is often found under decaying logs and stumps and in the leaf litter of [maple](/source/Maple) trees and *[Polystichum](/source/Polystichum)* ferns.
