# Cryptomaster behemoth

***Cryptomaster behemoth*** is an [opilionid](/source/Opiliones) [arachnid](/source/Arachnid) inhabiting large woody debris and [bark](/source/Bark_(botany)) [microhabitat](/source/Microhabitat) in mature [coniferous](/source/Coniferous) or mixed coniferous and [hardwood](/source/Hardwood) forests of the central [Cascade Mountains](/source/Cascade_Mountains) of [Oregon](/source/Oregon), with all initially discovered localities in [Lane County](/source/Lane_County,_Oregon).[1]

As with the species name of the other species in the genus, *[C. leviathan](/source/Cryptomaster_leviathan)*, the specific epithet "*[behemoth](/source/Behemoth)*" is derived from the name in the [Hebrew language](/source/Hebrew_language) of a large beast mentioned in the Biblical [Book of Job](/source/Book_of_Job), referencing *C. behemoth'*s large body size compared to most [travunioid](/source/Travunioidea) [Laniatores](/source/Laniatores). Even though of relatively large size, *[Cryptomaster](/source/Cryptomaster)* species are difficult to find, hence the genus name suggesting that they are masters at staying hidden.[1]
