**Cryptoclearance** (April 9, 1984 in [Kentucky](/source/Kentucky) – September 24, 2009) was an American [Thoroughbred](/source/Thoroughbred) [racehorse](/source/Racehorse) who won the [Florida Derby](/source/Florida_Derby) in 1987 and the [Hawthorne Gold Cup](/source/Hawthorne_Gold_Cup_Handicap) in 1988 and 1989.

## Racing career

Trained by future [Hall of Fame](/source/National_Museum_of_Racing_and_Hall_of_Fame) trainer [Scotty Schulhofer](/source/Flint_S._Schulhofer), Cryptoclearance raced for three years, winning 12 of his 44 starts including four Grade 1 races.

In 1987, Cryptoclearance won the [Florida Derby](/source/Florida_Derby) before coming fourth in the [Kentucky Derby](/source/Kentucky_Derby) to [Alysheba](/source/Alysheba), third in the [Preakness Stakes](/source/Preakness_Stakes) to [Alysheba](/source/Alysheba), and second in the [Belmont Stakes](/source/Belmont_Stakes) to [Bet Twice](/source/Bet_Twice).

## Retirement and Breeding Career

Retired to stud duty, Cryptoclearance stood at [Margaux Farm](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Margaux_Farm&action=edit&redlink=1) in [Midway, Kentucky](/source/Midway%2C_Kentucky).
