**Crawford Baptie** (born 24 February 1959) is a Scottish former [footballer](/source/Association_football).

## Career

During his playing career, Baptie played junior football for [Baillieston Juniors](/source/Baillieston_Juniors_F.C.), before moving onto the professional game with [Falkirk](/source/Falkirk_F.C.) (where he won the Scottish First Division title), [Motherwell](/source/Motherwell_F.C.), [Hamilton Academical](/source/Hamilton_Academical_F.C.), [Clyde](/source/Clyde_F.C.) and [Stenhousemuir](/source/Stenhousemuir_F.C.).[1][2] He was infamously punched by [Mick McCarthy](/source/Mick_McCarthy) during a match in 1988.[3]

Despite joining professional football, Baptie chose to stay part-time by continuing working as a manager at [Arnold Clark](/source/Arnold_Clark_Automobiles).[4] After retiring as a player, he left his twenty-year career at Arnold Clark and became General Manager of Falkirk for a number of years.[5][6]
