# Cowboy Records

**Cowboy Records** was a record label in [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania](/source/Philadelphia,_Pennsylvania). It was founded by [Buddy DeSylva](/source/Buddy_DeSylva) and [Johnny Mercer](/source/Johnny_Mercer) in 1942. It was later owned by [Jimmy DeKnight](/source/Jimmy_DeKnight) and [Jack Howard](/source/Jack_Howard_(producer)). Artists who recorded for the label included [Bill Haley](/source/Bill_Haley), who made his first commercial single release with the label as Bill Haley and the Four Aces of Western Swing.[1]
