# Cow Branch

**Cow Branch** is a [stream](/source/Stream) in [Atchison County](/source/Atchison_County,_Missouri) in the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Missouri](/source/Missouri).[1] It is a tributary of the [Tarkio River](/source/Tarkio_River).

According to tradition, Cow Branch was so named on account of farmers letting their cows graze the area.[2]
