Barony in County Cork, Ireland

**Courceys** ([Irish](/source/Irish_language): *Cúrsaigh*)[1] is a [historical barony](/source/Barony_(Ireland)) in [County Cork](/source/County_Cork) on the south coast of [Ireland](/source/Republic_of_Ireland). Its name refers to the [Norman](/source/Normans) *de Courcy* family, [Barons Kingsale](/source/Baron_Kingsale), who came to Ireland in the 12th century and were the main landowners in the area.[2] The barony of Courceys includes the [civil parishes](/source/Civil_parishes_in_Ireland) of Kilroan, Ringrone and Templetrine.[3] Courceys is also the name of an [ecclesiastical parish](/source/Ecclesiastical_parish) in the [Roman Catholic Diocese of Cork and Ross](/source/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Cork_and_Ross).[4] Villages within this parish include [Ballinspittle](/source/Ballinspittle) and [Ballinadee](/source/Ballinadee).[4][5]

The local [Gaelic Athletic Association](/source/Gaelic_Athletic_Association) team is [Courcey Rovers GAA](/source/Courcey_Rovers_GAA). An [association football](/source/Association_football) (soccer) team, De Courcey Albion FC, closed in 2016.[6]
