'''County of Young''' is a [cadastral unit](/source/Cadastral_divisions_of_South_Australia) located in the Australian state of [South Australia](/source/South_Australia) covers land located in the state’s east on the north side of the [Murray River](/source/Murray_River).  It was proclaimed in 1860 by [Governor MacDonnell](/source/Richard_Graves_MacDonnell) and named after his predecessor, [Governor Young](/source/Henry_Young).  It has been partially divided in the following sub-units of [hundreds](/source/Hundred_(county_division)) –  [Markaranka](/source/Hundred_of_Markaranka),  [Parcoola](/source/Hundred_of_Parcoola),  [Pooginook](/source/Hundred_of_Pooginook) and [Stuart](/source/Hundred_of_Stuart).

The County of Young covers part of South Australia to the north of the Murray River. ==History==
The County of Young was proclaimed by [Richard Graves MacDonnell](/source/Richard_Graves_MacDonnell), the sixth [Governor of South Australia](/source/Governor_of_South_Australia) on 19 April 1860.<ref name=y1860/>  The county was named after [Henry Edward Fox Young](/source/Henry_Young) who was the fifth Governor of South Australia from 2 August 1848 to 20 December 1854.<ref name="PLB"/>  The following four hundreds were proclaimed within the County between the years 1860 and 1915 - Markaranka, Parcoola and Pooginook in 1915, and Stuart in 1860.<ref name=Leadbeater>{{cite web |last=Leadbeater |first=Maureen |title=Counties & Hundreds of South Australia |url=http://www.familyhistorysa.info/sahistory/hundreds.html |publisher=Family History SA |date=2014 |accessdate=9 August 2016}}</ref>
