Born in [Salzburg](/source/Salzburg), Herrmann comes from a Salzburg family of musicians. At the age of eight, she was admitted to the [Mozarteum University Salzburg](/source/Mozarteum_University_Salzburg) in the class of Anton Czjzek. Later she studied with {{ill|Rohmann Imre|hu}} in Salzburg and Noel Flores at the [University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna](/source/University_of_Music_and_Performing_Arts_Vienna). She received regular lessons from [Ferenc Rados](/source/Ferenc_Rados) in Budapest and other coaching from [Alexander Lonquich](/source/Alexander_Lonquich), [Murray Perahia](/source/Murray_Perahia), [András Schiff](/source/Andr%C3%A1s_Schiff) and [Alfred Brendel](/source/Alfred_Brendel). In 1996, Herrmann was the youngest finalist and winner of the [International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition](/source/International_Johann_Sebastian_Bach_Competition) in Leipzig and in 1999 she won the special prize of the {{Ill|Internationaler Mozartwettbewerb Salzburg|de}}. In May 2014, Herrmann started her own [chamber music](/source/chamber_music) festival "Musiktage Hundsmarktmühle"[[https://sites.google.com/site/musiktagehundsmarktmuehle/ "Musiktage Hundsmarktmühle"]] at [Lake Fuschl](/source/Lake_Fuschl) in Salzburg. The chamber music concerts take place in the hayloft of the 16th century Hundsmarktmühle. The music days are now held at the end of June.
