'''Cordtex''' is a type of [detonating cord](/source/detonating_cord) generally used in [mining](/source/mining). It uses an [explosive core](/source/explosive_core) of [pentaerythritol tetranitrate](/source/PETN) (PETN) inside its plastic coating. It is commonly the thickness of electrical [extension cord](/source/extension_cord) and has a [detonation velocity](/source/detonation_velocity) of approximately 6000–7000 metres per second.
