# Corder Building

The **Corder Building** is a historical [English Cottage](/source/English_Cottage) building in downtown [Berkeley, California](/source/Berkeley,_California). The Corder brick building was built in 1900. The building was listed on the [National Register of Historic Places](/source/National_Register_of_Historic_Places) on January 11, 1982.[2] The [Classical revival](/source/Classical_revival) building was designed by James W. Plachek. James W. Plachek designed a number of other buildings in Berkeley, including: [Berkeley Public Library](/source/Berkeley_Public_Library), [New Hotel Carquinez](/source/New_Hotel_Carquinez), [UC Theatre](/source/UC_Theatre), [Chamber of Commerce Building](/source/Chamber_of_Commerce_Building_(Berkeley,_California)), schools, and civic buildings. Architect James W. Plachek office was in the Heywood Building.[3] The Corder Building has been updated and is now the Shattuck Apartments on the upper floors and a pharmacy on the ground floor.[4][5]
