# Coptodon flava

***Coptodon flava*** is a [critically endangered](/source/Critically_endangered) species of fish in the [cichlid](/source/Cichlid) family. It is [endemic](/source/Endemism) to [Lake Bermin](/source/Lake_Bermin) in [Cameroon](/source/Cameroon). It is threatened by [pollution](/source/Pollution) and [sedimentation](/source/Siltation) from human activities, and potentially also by large emissions of [carbon dioxide](/source/Carbon_dioxide) (CO2) from the lake's bottom (compare [Lake Nyos](/source/Lake_Nyos)),[1] although Bermin is too shallow to contain very high amounts of this gas.[2]
