The dock is adjacent to other Hobart landmark areas, [Victoria Dock](/source/Victoria_Dock_(Hobart)), [Salamanca Place](/source/Salamanca%2C_Tasmania) and [Battery Point](/source/Battery_Point%2C_Tasmania), and forms part of the foreshore of [Sullivans Cove](/source/Sullivans_Cove). The dock consists of a rock-walled marina with an opening for boats. The bridge is normally closed, allowing pedestrian access around the dock. The dock is normally used by motor pleasure boats, [yachts](/source/Yachts), and fishing [boats](/source/Boat) serving the city's [fish market](/source/Fish_market) and [restaurants](/source/Restaurant), several of which are at the northern end of the dock.
