**Constable Bay** (Danish: *Constable Bugt*) is a [bay](/source/Bay) in the [Wandel Sea](/source/Wandel_Sea), Northern [Greenland](/source/Greenland).[1] Administratively Constable Bay and its surroundings belong to the [Northeast Greenland National Park](/source/Northeast_Greenland_National_Park).

Constable Bay is the northernmost bay in the world. The area of the bay is uninhabited.

## History

The bay was named in 1900 by [Robert Peary](/source/Robert_Peary) after James M. Constable, a prominent member of the [Peary Arctic Club](/source/Peary_Arctic_Club) in [New York](/source/New_York_City).[2]

## Geography

Constable Bay lies in the northernmost shore of [Peary Land](/source/Peary_Land), in [Johannes V. Jensen Land](/source/Johannes_V._Jensen_Land), about 35 km (22 mi) west of [Bliss Bay](/source/Bliss_Bay) and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of [Cape Morris Jesup](/source/Cape_Morris_Jesup). It is a fairly large indentation, with [Cape James Hill](/source/Cape_James_Hill) rising at its eastern end.[3] The bay is clogged by [fast ice](/source/Fast_ice) the year round.

The northern arm of the [Sif Glacier](/source/Sif_Glacier), discharging from the [Roosevelt Range](/source/Roosevelt_Range) to the south, ends in a valley with its mouth in Constable Bay, having formed prominent terminal [moraines](/source/Moraines).[4]
