**Conrad Fritz Hoffmann** (born 9 November 1987 in [Worcester, Western Cape](/source/Worcester%2C_Western_Cape)) is a South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player, who most recently played with the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)).[1][2] His regular position is scrum-half.

## Career

### Youth

In 2005, he represented [Western Province](/source/Stormers) at the Under-18 [Craven Week](/source/Craven_Week) competition. He progressed through their age groups, representing them at Under-19 level in 2006 and at Under-21 level in 2007.

He was also included in the South Africa Under-19 squad for the 2006 [Under 19 Rugby World Championship](/source/Under_19_Rugby_World_Championship).

### Western Province / Stormers

He was included in [Western Province](/source/Stormers)'s squad for the [2007 Vodacom Cup](/source/2007_Vodacom_Cup)[3] and made his first class debut in the opening match of the season, a 51–21 victory over the [Border Bulldogs](/source/Border_Bulldogs) in [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town).[4] He made a total of five appearances during that competition, making his first start in the match against [SWD Eagles](/source/SWD_Eagles), also scoring a try in that match.[5]

He got his first taste of [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) action a few months later, coming on as a substitute in their [2007 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2007_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division) match against the [Golden Lions](/source/Lions_(United_Rugby_Championship)).[6] He made three starts and three substitute appearances during that competition.

In 2008, he made yet another step up by being included in the [Stormers](/source/Stormers) squad for the [2008 Super 14 season](/source/2008_Super_14_season). He was an unused substitute in their match against the [Blues](/source/Blues_(Super_Rugby)),[7] but did make his [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) appearance as a late substitute in their next match against the [Force](/source/Western_Force) in [Perth](/source/Perth).[8] However, he missed the rest of the season due to injury.[9]

He returned to action during the [2009 Vodacom Cup](/source/2009_Vodacom_Cup), making six appearances in that competition. In June 2009, he scored a hat-trick of tries in [Western Province](/source/Stormers)'s [2009 Currie Cup compulsory friendly](/source/2009_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division#Compulsory_Friendlies) match against the [Mighty Elephants](/source/Eastern_Province_Elephants)[10] and a week later was named as a substitute for their match against the [British & Irish Lions](/source/British_%26_Irish_Lions) during their [2009 tour to South Africa](/source/2009_British_%26_Irish_Lions_tour_to_South_Africa), but failed to make an appearance.[11]

He made four more appearances during the [2009 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2009_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division), as well as 21 appearances during the 2010 [Vodacom Cup](/source/2010_Vodacom_Cup) and [Currie Cup](/source/2010_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division) competitions.

He also made four appearances for university side [Maties](/source/Maties_(rugby_union)) during the [2010 Varsity Cup](/source/2010_Varsity_Cup) tournament, ending second in the points scoring charts with 75 points.[12]

### Sharks

He made the move to [Durban](/source/Durban) to join the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) on a two-year deal for the 2011 season.[13] He made 11 appearances for them during the [2011 Super Rugby season](/source/2011_Super_Rugby_season) and a further 11 appearances domestically for the [Sharks XV](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) in the [2011 Vodacom Cup](/source/2011_Vodacom_Cup) and the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) in the [2011 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2011_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division).

However, he dropped out of the [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby) squad in 2012, making just four substitute appearances during the [2012 Vodacom Cup](/source/2012_Vodacom_Cup) competition and was an unused substitute once during the [2012 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2012_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division).

### Hamiltons

He returned to [Cape Town](/source/Cape_Town) to play for club side [Hamiltons](/source/Hamilton_RFC%2C_Sea_Point).[14] He helped the team finish runners-up in the [2013 Western Province Super League A](/source/2014_SARU_Community_Cup#Western_Province), which assured their qualification to the [2014 SARU Community Cup](/source/2014_SARU_Community_Cup). He was named in [Western Province](/source/Stormers)'s wider training group prior to the [2013 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2013_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division) season,[15][16] but failed to make an appearance for them. A proposed spell at [Boland Cavaliers](/source/Boland_Cavaliers)[17] also failed to materialise.[18]

### Brumbies

Along with fellow South African [Lionel Cronjé](/source/Lionel_Cronj%C3%A9), he then joined [Canberra](/source/Canberra)-based side [Brumbies](/source/ACT_Brumbies) on a two-year deal prior to the [2014 Super Rugby season](/source/2014_Super_Rugby_season).[19] However, his stay in Canberra only lasted one season and he left after the 2014 season, having made just 4 appearances.

### Return to Sharks

He returned to South Africa, rejoining the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) prior to the [2014 Currie Cup Premier Division](/source/2014_Currie_Cup_Premier_Division).[20]
