== Career ==
When Ferguson was 15 he won two silvers in the [2015 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival](/source/Swimming_at_the_2015_European_Youth_Summer_Olympic_Festival) in the 100 & 200 backstroke

The following year Ferguson competed in the [2016 European Championships](/source/2016_European_Aquatics_Championships), finishing 13th in the [100m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2016_European_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_100_metre_backstroke). Ferguson made his World Championships debut at the [2017 World Aquatics Championships](/source/2017_World_Aquatics_Championships), where he competed in the [200m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2017_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_200_metre_backstroke) and finished in 21st place.

In Ferguson's second [European Championships](/source/2018_European_Aquatics_Championships) in 2018 he just missed out on the final in the [50m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_European_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke), ultimately finishing 9th. Ferguson also just missed out on the final and also come 9th in the [100m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_European_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_100_metre_backstroke), alongside [Shane Ryan](/source/Shane_Ryan_(swimmer)), [Darragh Greene](/source/Darragh_Greene) & [Brendan Hyland](/source/Brendan_Hyland). Ferguson competed in the [4x100m Medley Relay](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_European_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_4_%C3%97_100_metre_medley_relay) but was subsequently disqualified.

Ferguson competed for [Northern Ireland](/source/Northern_Ireland_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games) at the [2018 Commonwealth Games](/source/2018_Commonwealth_Games) and got to two finals, finishing 5th in the [50m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke) and 8th in the [100m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_100_metre_backstroke). In the [200m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_200_metre_backstroke), he finished 9th, narrowly missing out on the final, while he finished 6th in the [4x100m Medley Relay](/source/Swimming_at_the_2018_Commonwealth_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_4_%C3%97_100_metre_medley_relay).

At the [2019 World Championships](/source/2019_World_Aquatics_Championships), Ferguson finished 28th in the [50m backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2019_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke) and 33rd in the [200m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2019_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_200_metre_backstroke), Ferguson also was a member of the Irish Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay team which finished  in 19th place.

Conor got to his first European final in 2021, finishing 7th in the [50m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2020_European_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke) at the [2020 European Championships](/source/2020_European_Aquatics_Championships).

At the [2023 World Championships](/source/2023_World_Aquatics_Championships), Ferguson got his best finish of his career after ending in 13th place in the [50m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2023_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke) & a 22nd place finish in the [100m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2023_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_50_metre_backstroke), In the [4x100m Medley Relay](/source/Swimming_at_the_2023_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_4_%C3%97_100_metre_medley_relay), his team finished in 13th place.

In February 2024 at the [2024 World Championships](/source/2024_World_Aquatics_Championships), Ferguson finished 13th in the [100m Backstroke](/source/Swimming_at_the_2024_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_100_metre_backstroke) and got to his first ever world final in the [4x100m Medley Relay](/source/Swimming_at_the_2024_World_Aquatics_Championships_%E2%80%93_Men's_4_%C3%97_100_metre_medley_relay) alongside [Shane Ryan](/source/Shane_Ryan_(swimmer)), [Max McCusker](/source/Max_McCusker) & [Darragh Greene](/source/Darragh_Greene), ultimately finishing in 7th place. This performance allowed Ferguson and his teammates to qualify for the [2024 Olympics](/source/2024_Summer_Olympics) in [Paris](/source/Paris) in the  [4x100m Medley Relay](/source/Swimming_at_the_2024_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_4_%C3%97_100-metre_medley_relay). They finished three spots outside of a finals place in 11th place, in the process setting a new [national record](/source/List_of_Irish_records_in_swimming) at a time of 3.33.81.
