'''Connellite''' is a rare [mineral](/source/mineral) species, a [hydrous](/source/hydrous) [copper](/source/copper) [chloro](/source/chloro)-[sulfate](/source/sulfate),<ref name=EB1911>{{EB1911|wstitle=Connellite|volume=6|page=963|inline=1}}</ref> Cu19(OH)32(SO4)Cl4·3H2O, [crystal](/source/crystal)lizing in the [hexagonal](/source/hexagonal_(crystal_system)) system. It occurs as tufts of very delicate acicular crystals of a fine blue color, and is associated with other [copper](/source/copper) minerals of secondary origin, such as [cuprite](/source/cuprite) and [malachite](/source/malachite). Its occurrence in [Cornwall](/source/Cornwall), England was noted by [Philip Rashleigh](/source/Philip_Rashleigh_(1729%E2%80%931811)) in 1802, and it was first examined [chemical](/source/chemical)ly by Prof [Arthur Connell](/source/Arthur_Connell) [FRSE](/source/FRSE) in 1847, after whom it is named.<ref name=EB1911/>

The [type locality](/source/Type_locality_(geology)) is [Wheal Providence](/source/Wheal_Providence) at [Carbis Bay](/source/Carbis_Bay) in Cornwall.<ref name=Mindat>[http://www.mindat.org/min-1120.html Connellite: Connellite mineral information on Mindat.org]</ref> Outside Cornwall it has been found in over 200 locations worldwide including [Namaqualand](/source/Namaqualand) in [South Africa](/source/South_Africa) and at [Bisbee](/source/Bisbee%2C_Arizona), [Arizona](/source/Arizona) (US).<ref name=Mindat/>
