**Configuresoft, Inc.** was an American software company, best known for their [Enterprise Configuration Manager](/source/Enterprise_Configuration_Manager) [software](/source/Software). In May 2009, [EMC Corporation](/source/EMC_Corporation) announced the acquisition of Configuresoft.[1]

In 1999 by E. Alexander Goldstein ([CEO](/source/Chief_Executive_Officer)), Dr Dennis Moreau ([CTO](/source/Chief_Technical_Officer)), Louis Woodhill ([Chairman](/source/Chairman)) and Alan Sage (VP, Worldwide Sales) formed a company which they named **Fundamental Software, Inc.**[2] Based in [Woodland Park, Colorado](/source/Woodland_Park,_Colorado), the company was founded to purchase the [intellectual property rights](/source/Intellectual_property) to [London](/source/London)-based company [Serverware Group plc](/source/Serverware_Group_plc)'s Enterprise Configuration Manager network systems management product (with the British company taking a stake in the new [start-up](/source/Startup_company) as part of the deal).[3]

In January 2001 the company changed its name to **Configuresoft, Inc.**[4] in order to differentiate it from a number of other software houses with the *Fundamental Software* name.

In April 2004 Configuresoft, having outgrown its offices in Woodland Park, moved to [Colorado Springs](/source/Colorado_Springs,_Colorado),[5] where it has become one of the larger employers in the area.[6]

In July 2006 Goldstein retired and Mark Ruport was named as the new CEO,[7] holding the position until February 2009 when Alex Goldstein returned to the role.[8]

Prior to the EMC acquisition, Configuresoft's customer base included [Citigroup](/source/Citigroup), [ExxonMobil](/source/ExxonMobil), [Intel Corporation](/source/Intel_Corporation) and [Qwest Communications](/source/Qwest_Communications), as well as several governmental agencies in the United Kingdom, including the [Ministry of Defence](/source/Ministry_of_Defence_(United_Kingdom)), the [Department for Children, Schools and Families](/source/Department_for_Children,_Schools_and_Families) and the [Department for Work and Pensions](/source/Department_for_Work_and_Pensions).[9]
