# Comite Creek

**Comite Creek** is a [stream](/source/Stream) in the [U.S. states](/source/U.S._state) of [Louisiana](/source/Louisiana) and [Mississippi](/source/Mississippi).[1] It is a tributary to the [Comite River](/source/Comite_River).

The origin of the name "Comite Creek" is obscure. *Comite* may be a corruption of the name of *Amite* as in [Amite River](/source/Amite_River).[2] Variant names are "Comite River" and "East Fork Comite River".[1]
