# Colla Swart

**Colla Swart** (1930–2023) was a South African photographer. She started professional [photography](/source/Photography) in 1982, and has photographed nature and people in and around her birth town of [Kamieskroon](/source/Kamieskroon). Colla and her Canadian photographer friend [Freeman Patterson](/source/Freeman_Patterson) hosted, until recently, annual photographic workshops in [Namaqualand](/source/Namaqualand), known for its beautiful floral scenery around August to September.[1]

Swart has photographed [Namaqualand](/source/Namaqualand) wild flowers and made [multiple exposure](/source/Multiple_exposure) photographs.

She lived in [Piketberg](/source/Piketberg), [Western Cape](/source/Western_Cape), [South Africa](/source/South_Africa), the hometown of her late son, and daughter-in-law.
