# Colin Terry

[Air Marshal](/source/Air_Marshal) **Sir Colin George Terry**, (8 August 1943 – 9 February 2025) was a senior [Royal Air Force](/source/Royal_Air_Force) officer.

## RAF career

Educated at [Imperial College London](/source/Imperial_College_London), Terry joined the Royal Air Force in 1965.[1] He went on to be Director-General of Support Management in 1993,[2] Chief of Staff at [Logistics Command](/source/RAF_Logistics_Command) in 1995[3] and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief at Logistics Command in 1997 before retiring in 1999.[4] He was appointed a Knight Commander of the [Order of the British Empire](/source/Order_of_the_British_Empire) in the [1995 Birthday Honours](/source/1995_Birthday_Honours).[5]

## Later life and career

In retirement Terry became President of the Council of the [Royal Aeronautical Society](/source/Royal_Aeronautical_Society) and Chairman of the [Engineering Council](/source/Engineering_Council).[1] He also became Chairman of [Meggitt](/source/Meggitt) and [deputy lieutenant](/source/Deputy_lieutenant) of [Buckinghamshire](/source/Buckinghamshire).[6] He was also appointed a [Fellow](/source/Fellow) of the [Royal Academy of Engineering](/source/Royal_Academy_of_Engineering) in 2001.[7]

Terry was chairman of *Centronic*, a nuclear industry engineering company, between July 2016 and July 2018.[8]

Terry was appointed Chairman of *BOXARR*, a software business, in 2017.[9]

Terry died on 9 February 2025.[10]
