[[File:David_Roth_at_Coin_Seminar_7.JPG|thumb|[David Roth](/source/David_Roth_(magician)), considered to be the finest coin magician of his time, is a well known practitioner of Coins Through Table]]

'''Coins through table''' is considered to be a classic of [coin magic](/source/coin_magic),<ref>Expert Coin Magic Made Easy vol 1 - 3 (Instructional DVD set)</ref> where a [magician](/source/Magic_(illusion)) appears to make [coin](/source/coin)s penetrate a table. Being one of the most popular forms of coin magic, it is described in many [magic books](/source/List_of_magic_publications) with many variations.

==Effect==
Usually the magician is seated at the table with the spectators. In most variations, there are several coins (though, some simpler versions involve a single coin)<ref>{{Cite book |title=The illustrated compendium of magic tricks : the complete step-by-step guide to magic, with more than 375 fun and simple-to-learn tricks |last=Einhorn |first=Nicholas |date=2008 |publisher=Lorenz Books |isbn=9780754819141 |location=London |oclc=228575309}}</ref> that appear to be passed directly through the table, with some variations involving passing several coins one by one while others involve passing several or all at once.<ref>Expert Coin Magic Made Easy vol 1 - 3 (Instructional DVD set)</ref> Because some variations of this trick are impromptu, [David Roth](/source/David_Roth_(magician)) recommends this trick as part of dinner table magic.<ref>Expert Coin Magic Made Easy vol 1 - 3 (Instructional DVD set)</ref>
The effect is described, with several variations in [J. B. Bobo](/source/J._B._Bobo)'s book, ''Modern Coin Magic''.<ref>{{Cite book |title=Modern coin magic |last=Bobo |first=J. B. |date=1982 |publisher=Dover |isbn=0486242587 |location=New York, N.Y. |oclc=7924721}}</ref> And in his eponymous book, [Mark Wilson](/source/Mark_Wilson's_Complete_Course_In_Magic) discusses a specific variation of this trick which uses a [gimmick](/source/Glossary_of_magic_(illusion)). In his show, [Mindfreak](/source/Criss_Angel_Mindfreak), [Criss Angel](/source/Criss_Angel) demonstrates a version of this trick, which utilizes a single coin, and then teaches it to the audience.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlwXKMkIPzI|title=Criss Angel Mindfreak: Teach a Trick - Coin Through Table - A&E|last=A&E|date=21 February 2012|publisher=|via=YouTube}}</ref>
