# Clydwyn

**Clydwyn** is a 6th-century [Pre-Congregational Saint](/source/Pre-Congregational_Saint) of Wales.[1]

The eldest son of [Brychan](/source/Brychan) Brycheiniog and brother of St [Tudful](/source/Tydfil),[2] he was himself king.

His children included [Clydog](/source/Clydog), [Cynon](/source/Cynon_(son_of_Clydwyn)) and St [Cynlefr the Martyr](/source/Cynlefr_the_Martyr) and St [Berwen](/source/Berwen).[3]

Although some sources say he conquered the whole of South Wales, this is unlikely, but it is possible that he was at one time also king of [Ceredigion](/source/Ceredigion) and [Dyfed](/source/Dyfed) along with his brother Dedyw.

He is commemorated by the now ruined [church of St Enclydwyn](/source/Penmachno#Parish_Church),[4] in [Penmachno](/source/Penmachno).

A [feast day](/source/Feast_day) celebrates his life on [1 November](/source/November_1_(Eastern_Orthodox_liturgics)).[5]
