'''Club 8''' is a Swedish musical duo consisting of Karolina Komstedt (from the band Poprace) and Johan Angergård ([Acid House Kings](/source/Acid_House_Kings), Poprace).

==History==
Formed in 1995,<ref>{{cite web|last=Leahey |first=Andrew |url=http://www.allmusic.com/artist/club-8-mn0000789156 |title=Club 8 - Music Biography, Credits and Discography |publisher=Allmusic.com |date= |accessdate=3 June 2013}}</ref> Club 8 were signed to the Spanish [record label](/source/record_label) Siesta. They released a single called "Me Too" and an album called ''Nouvelle'' with an [twee pop](/source/twee_pop) sound.

In 1998, their second album, ''The Friend I Once Had'', and the single "Missing You" were released. "Missing You" became a club and radio hit in Spain and somewhat of a college radio favorite in the US.{{Citation needed|date=June 2013}} The band started playing live. Their first gig was in [New York](/source/New_York_City) at a March Records [CMJ](/source/CMJ) event in 1999. Their sound had by now developed into a more [bossa nova](/source/bossa_nova) and [dance](/source/dance_music)-oriented one.{{Citation needed|date=June 2013}}

In 2001, Club 8's sound moved toward [chill-out](/source/chill-out_music) and [trip hop](/source/trip_hop) on their third, self-titled album.{{Citation needed|date=June 2013}} In the autumn of 2001, the duo used Stockholm's Summersound Studios, writing songs and experimenting with [dub](/source/Dub_music), [trip hop](/source/trip_hop), [chillout](/source/Chill-out_music), 1980s, and [bossa nova](/source/bossa_nova) sounds. The resulting album, released in 2002, is named ''Spring Came, Rain Fell''.

The 2003 follow-up album, ''[Strangely Beautiful](/source/Strangely_Beautiful)'', peaked at number 18 on the CMJ charts in the [US](/source/United_States). For the first time since 1999, the band released a single from the album and a corresponding video. Backed by five exclusive tracks, the song "Saturday Night Engine" was released as a single in the spring of 2003. The video made it to number 16 on the ''[Up North](/source/Up_North_(television))'' chart on [MTV Nordic](/source/MTV_Nordic).

Afterward, Angergård formed a band called [the Legends](/source/The_Legends_(Swedish_band)), which recorded three albums between 2004 and 2006. He also made an [Acid House Kings](/source/Acid_House_Kings) album in 2005. In 2007, Club 8 released their sixth album, ''[The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Dreaming](/source/The_Boy_Who_Couldn't_Stop_Dreaming)'', on [Labrador Records](/source/Labrador_Records).

Club 8's album ''[The People's Record](/source/The_People's_Record)'', was released on 18 May 2010, and was produced by [Jari Haapalainen](/source/Jari_Haapalainen). Their next album, titled ''[Above the City](/source/Above_the_City_(Club_8_album))'', came out on 21 May 2013.<ref name="allmusic1">{{cite web|last=Sendra |first=Tim |url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/above-the-city-mw0002499889 |title=Above the City - Club 8 : Songs, Reviews, Credits, Awards |publisher=Allmusic.com |date=21 May 2013 |accessdate=3 June 2013}}</ref>

Club 8 has since released two further studio albums: 2015's ''[Pleasure](/source/Pleasure_(Club_8_album))'', and their latest, ''Golden Island'', which came out in 2018.<ref>{{cite web|last=Sendra |first=Tim |url=https://www.allmusic.com/album/golden-island-mw0003134663 |title=Club 8 - Golden Island |publisher=Allmusic.com |date= |accessdate=23 June 2019}}</ref>
