# Clinidium mathani

***Clinidium mathani*** is a species of [ground beetle](/source/Ground_beetle) in the subfamily [Rhysodinae](/source/Rhysodinae).[1] It was described by [Antoine Henri Grouvelle](/source/Antoine_Henri_Grouvelle) in 1903.[1][2] Originally known from the [Amazon Basin](/source/Amazon_basin) of Brazil—its [type locality](/source/Type_locality_(biology)) is in the [Amazonas](/source/Amazonas_(Brazilian_state)) State, near the border with Peru and Colombia, and there is another record from [Amapá](/source/Amap%C3%A1)[2]—it is now also known from the Colombian [Andes](/source/Andes) in the [Cordillera de los Picachos National Natural Park](/source/Cordillera_de_los_Picachos_National_Natural_Park) ([Caquetá](/source/Caquet%C3%A1_Department)) and from near [Inzá](/source/Inz%C3%A1,_Cauca) ([Cauca](/source/Cauca_Department)).[3] It is named after collector of the [holotype](/source/Holotype), M. de Mathan.[2]
