**Cliffe Hill Quarry** is a 19.2 hectares (47 acres) geological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) on the western outskirts of [Markfield](/source/Markfield) in [Leicestershire](/source/Leicestershire).[1][2] It is a [Geological Conservation Review](/source/Geological_Conservation_Review) site.[3]

This quarry exposes volcanic and sedimentary [Charnian](/source/Charnian) rocks dating to the [Ediacaran](/source/Ediacaran) period (635 to 541 Ma) of the [Proterozoic](/source/Proterozoic) eon. It was probably then a volcanic island. An unusually homogeneous form of the rock [diorite](/source/Diorite) found here is sometimes called [markfieldite](/source/Markfieldite), named after the village.[4]

The site is private land with no public access.
