Under the [additional-member electoral system](/source/Additional-member_system) used for elections to the Scottish Parliament, it is also one of nine constituencies in the [Mid Scotland and Fife](/source/Mid_Scotland_and_Fife_(Scottish_Parliament_electoral_region)) [electoral region](/source/Scottish_Parliament_constituencies_and_regions), which elects seven additional members, in addition to the nine constituency MSPs, to produce a form of [proportional representation](/source/Proportional_representation) for the region as a whole.[3] Created in 2011, the constituency covers much of the area previously in the abolished [Ochil](/source/Ochil_(Scottish_Parliament_constituency)) constituency. The [electoral wards](/source/Wards_and_electoral_divisions_of_the_United_Kingdom) used in the creation of Clackmannanshire and Dunblane for the 2011 election were:[6] - [Clackmannanshire Council](/source/Clackmannanshire_Council) wards (entire council area): - [Clackmannanshire Central](/source/Clackmannanshire_Central) (entire ward) - [Clackmannanshire East](/source/Clackmannanshire_East) (entire ward) - [Clackmannanshire North](/source/Clackmannanshire_North) (entire ward) - [Clackmannanshire South](/source/Clackmannanshire_South) (entire ward) - [Clackmannanshire West](/source/Clackmannanshire_West) (entire ward) - [Stirling Council](/source/Stirling_Council) wards: - [Dunblane and Bridge of Allan](/source/Dunblane_and_Bridge_of_Allan_(ward)) At the [second periodic review of Scottish Parliament boundaries](/source/Second_periodic_review_of_Scottish_Parliament_boundaries) in 2025 the seat boundaries were slightly altered to address the difference in electorate size between the [Stirling](/source/Stirling_(Scottish_Parliament_constituency)) and Clackmannanshire and Dunblane seats.
